Dad~ You Are One In A Melon

Hello and happy Wednesday.  Today my project for the blog is a page layout of my Dad.  I love this picture of him.  Since retirement and moving away from the city his veggie patch is his pride and joy.  This is his first ever home grown watermelon.

The LSHD file

This file from LSHD was perfect for this page.

This is also a Christmas tradition in our family.   Dad chooses a watermelon for Christmas day.  The watermelon lies in our swimming pool on the day while we celebrate.  We have a “cold” Christmas lunch. After lunch those that feel like a swim jump in the pool, the watermelon comes out and Dad cuts it up for the family.

Outdoor Adventure

Today I am sharing a layout that I did using the sketch from Let's Scrap for their month long challenge.

I loved the long tags on this layout, especially since I almost ALWAYS have a strip of paper leftover from a previous layout.  So today I used up all my leftovers that I have been keeping for a day like today.

19 Happy Birthday

The years do just fly by.  My son has just turned 19.  I can't believe I am a mom of a 19 year OLD. LOL!!!  Every year I have done a birthday page for their albums.  In the beginning, I seemed to have so many photos of their birthday parties and as time goes by I am lucky if I get one.  So this is just a quick one pager for his album with more cutting files then place for pictures LOL!

I'm a Turkey challenge

This week the challenge was a bit more challenging for me but I did it LOL!
I really had to dig deep and shake those cobwebs out of my head but in the end I really think it turned out a nice page layout.

For this page I used
Lucky-boy (the hat, a retired file)

I also added some pearls around the flourished, inked and distressed the pages and finally to give my photos a canvas look printed them on textures white American Crafts card stock.

Page layout

Good afternoon, today I am sharing a quick layout I did.  I love doing all these blog challenges, it gets me really motivated to scrap some pages and it is so nice to have a starting point to get going.  This page is based on the Scrap Africa blog challenge.

Layout Sketch Challenge May 6

This week is a Layout Sketch Challenge. Can't wait
to see all your creations!!
Head on over to the LSHD DT Blog to get some inspiration.
I loved this Sketch, it is not often that I do journalling on a page.
My mother made a quilt for each of my boys.  I wanted to capture this special this memory for them.

I found this quote on the Web

From "The Patchwork Coverlet"

Day after day the pattern grew;

Each block was deftly set in place,
And rows of tiny stitches tell
A tale that time cannot efface.
Of patience, skill, housewifely pride,
Of women's love for pretty thing,
Of fingers trained such work to do
By those who know the joy it brings,
Of time within the home wheel spent,
The heart with homely tasks content.

Page Layout

I have been looking for some inspiration and came across this blog.  Stuck on U Sketches.  I saw their sketch and decided to catch up on some of my own scrap booking.

For this page I used all of Little scraps of Heavens paper piecing files and just LOVE how this turned out.

The arrows, brackets and title were all cut out of chipboard with my Black Cat cutter.  I inked the edges and then put some 3D dimensional liquid on top of each die cut to create the gloss.
Thanks for looking and have a good day.
